GEW is a celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
Every year, in the third week of November, more than 100 events are organized throughout the Netherlands to celebrate entrepreneurship. The week is opened simultaneously in several different regions throughout the country, and each day one main event is held to highlight a specific theme.
Thousands of brand new startups spring to life through bootcamps, hundreds of universities strengthen connections that help them commercialize research from their labs, researchers and policymakers engage in discussions around the world to examine the underlying policies necessary to promote entrepreneurial growth, and serial entrepreneurs share their expertise.
In the Netherlands the GEW is organised by the Dutch Centers for Entrepreneurship (DutchCE) . The local edition in Maastricht will be organised by Maastricht Centre for Entrepreneurship and will consist of a program of four days.
